Filming Day 1

Thursday night was the first night we began to film. Rachel asked her drama teacher if we could use the auditorium for our film setting (thanks Mrs. Lutwin).  I think the school auditorium was a great spot to introduce our character and her passion for acting. You can tell from this scene that she practices theater a lot and it's something she puts all her effort into.

When we got to our set, we decided that this opening should have a credit scene that represents the entire moving setting and plot. Since it's pretty much surrounded by the concept of school, we got different shots of different angles of the auditorium aspects such as the seats, clock, stage ropes, the actual stage, spotlight, etc. And when we put these all together, we'll insert the credits into each shot.

After the credits is when Rae begins to perform and when the voiceover starts. We still are in the process of writing the script of the voiceover so it perfectly fits the scene of the performance that we filmed. The only person in the room watching her is her friend Julia who, again, isn't very supportive.  We got all types of different shots (that we've learned in class) and I think it's going to be composed very well when the editing is finished. We didn't get to finish filming the entire second part of the beginning but we will continue tomorrow after school. I honestly had fun with this project so far and I'm excited to see how it's going to come out. We played with the lights in the theater to make it realistic and I'm proud of what it looks like on camera. Jessica did a great job with her camera work and I enjoyed helping her out with the directing the scene while Vicky did all the light work. Our group works together really well and we compromise all of our ideas.

There's more to come and a lot more to film which is something  I'm excited about! I've been doing many projects over the school year with this same particular group of people and I think this is the best work we've done. I also believe that we managed our time better than we ever have before!
